Why me?

Every coach I know, including me, loves their job. We love working with people in a way that helps them to move on with their lives and get to places they might otherwise not have got to - or certainly not so quickly. When our clients feel good, we feel good. So I know I would like to work with you. But how do you decide whether you would like to work with me?

There are many coaches. How do you decide which one is right for you? Probably the best way is to have a free introductory session. Most coaches offer this. However, you may feel you'd like to know a little more about me even before doing that.

One thing you definitely need to know is that I'm a qualified and experienced coach.

Qualifications : I trained with CTI (The Coaches Training Institute) and am a Certified Co-Active Coach, an accreditation recognised by the International Coach Federation (ICF). I also have a qualification in Counselling & Hypnotherapy and am a trained Mediator.

Experience : For the past 4 years, the majority of my work has been 1-1 coaching. For the past 20 years I've also been a Management and Personal Development Consultant/Trainer, including 1-1 work, specialising in areas such as personal empowerment, leadership, change management, stress management and interpersonal skills. You can also find out how my clients experience my coaching, and the results they achieve, at the What Clients Say page.

What else?
Do I need to be 'someone like you'? Does there need to be a match in terms of age, gender, life history, interests? Based on my experience with clients I'd say 'no'. But you do need to feel that the 'chemistry' is right, that I am someone you can trust and build a relationship with - which is why the free introductory session is so useful.

However, if you do feel that you'd like to know more read on.

Values
A simple definition of values is that they are those aspects of yourself that represent what is really important to you. When making decisions your values provide valuable signposts - pointing you in the best direction. The more you are honouring and living in alignment with your values in all aspects of your life - from where you live to the work you do - the more likely you are to experience yourself as living in integrity with yourself and to be happy, fulfilled and at peace. The less you are honouring them, the more likely you are to feel uneasy, stressed and unfulfilled (without necessarily being clear about why).

These are some of my Core Values - and it's probably easy to see why they would lead me to being a coach.

Things I Like To Do With My Time
I'm a 'Dabbler' not a 'Diver' (see Exploring the Edge No. 16) so this list could go on for ever but these are some of them :
